Coagulation Reagents

About Biomedica

Biomedica Diagnostics is a privately held medical biotechnology firm focusing on R & D, manufacturing and distribution of QuikCoag Blood Coagulation reagents. This is a comprehensive line of reagents that are widely used for monitoring cardiovascular risk, thrombotic disease, cancer, presurgical screening and routine clinical management of emergency, ambulatory and geriatric patients. Biomedica Diagnostics develop and manufactures the Quick coag brand of products a comprehensive line of reagents, kits, calibrators and controls for use in routine and speciality coagulation. Quick coag products are represented in India through Operon Biotech and Healthcare.

Our Partnership

Operon has been the partner for Biomedica Diagnostics past 3 years and we are growing in strengths. The synergies of Biomedica, Qlabs, Zonci are working very well for us and has positioned us as a serious contender in Hemostasis business. In times to come we are looking at the vertical integration of these products and services. The high quality Quick coag reagents offered by Biomedica including the PT reagent (Low ISI) or the Liquid stable APTT are well accepted with Indian customers. The quick coag controls offered by Biomedica has values for Optical and Mechanical instruments thus giving more flexibility for us to penetrate the market. Whatmore, the QuikCoag line of products that are FDA 510(k) cleared, CE marked and/or Health Canada registered.

Great Value Addition

Biomedica Diagnostics has recently acquired the specialty coagulation business and product line from Sekisui Diagnostics.

Biomedica Parameters

Quick coag PT-HS (Prothrombin Time

Quick coag PT-HS (Prothrombin Time) is a lyophilized preparation of rabbit brain thromboplastin, calcium chloride , buffer and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. The capacity of blood to form a fibrin clot by way of extrinsic hemostatic pathway requires thromboplastin , calcium , factors I,II,V ,VII and X. The Quick coag PT-HS reagent provides a source of tissue thromboplastin and calcium that specifically activate factor VII in the extrinsic caoagulation pathway. The Prothrombin time is a method of choice for monitoring oral anticoagulation therapy and is a fundamental screening test for acquired or inherited bleeding disorders.

  • Method of choice for monitoring oral anticoagulant therapy
  • LOW ISI Value of 0.9 to 1.1
  • Excellent sensitivity to Extrinsic Factors II,V and X
  • Long shelf life
  • Good stability on Reconstitution
  • Normal range falls between 10-15 seconds
  • Separate ISI Values for Optical and Mechanical Instruments
Quick Coag
APTT

Quick Coag APTT-EA ( Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time)

The Quick Coag APTT-EA is a preparation of rabbit brain cephalin and ellagic acid activator with buffer, stabilizers and preservatives. The activated Partial Thromboplastin Time is used as a general screening test for the detection of coagulation abnormalities in the intrinsic pathway. APTT is sensitive to abnormalities of factors VIII, IX, XI, XII, X, II, Prekallikrein, high molecular weight kininogen(HMWK) and Fibrinogen.

  • Used for General Screening for Coagulation abnormalities in Intrinsic Pathway
  • Excellent Sensitivity to Intrinsic factors VIII,IX,XI,XII,X and II,Prekallikrein,HMWK and FIB
  • Enhanced Sensitivity to LUPUS Inhibitors and FDP
  • Suitable to be used for Heparin Anticoagulant Monitoring

Quick Coag Fibrinogen

Quick Coag Fibrinogen is a lyophilized preparation of bovine thrombin approximately 100NH U/ml, buffer, stabilizers and preservative. Thrombin converts soluble fibrinogen into insoluble fibrin, which when crosslinked becomes the fibrin clot as the last step in coagulation cascade. Quick Coag Fibrinogen is based on Clauss method of quantifying plasma fibrinogen. Clauss method measures the rate of fibrinogen fibrin conversion in the presence of excess thrombin and has been shown to be rapid , sensitive and precise.

  • Modified Clauss Method
  • Gold Standard in Fib Estimation
  • Built in Controls/ Calibrators
  • Suitable for Optics/ Mechnical methods
  • Long Shelf life

Quick Coag Controls Level 1

Quick Coag Controls Level 1 Normal is suitable for use as a normal coagulation time control in one stage prothrombin time(PT) assay and in the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) assay. It is a lyophilized preparation of human plasma containing buffers and stabilizers.

  • Convenient Pack size of 1ml each
  • Values for Quick Coag PT-HS/APTT-EA and Fibrinogen
  • Excellent Stability
  • Long Shelflife

Quick Coag Controls Level 2

Quick Coag Controls Level 2 Low Abnormal is suitable for use as a moderately elevated coagulation time control in one stage prothrombin time(PT) assay and in the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) assay. It is a lyophilized preparation of human plasma containing buffers and stabilizers.

  • Convenient Pack size of 1ml each
  • Values for Quick Coag PT-HS/APTT-EA and Fibrinogen
  • Excellent Stability
  • Long Shelflife

Thrombin Time

Quick Coag Thrombin Time

Quick Coag Thrombin Time is a lyophilized preparation of bovine thrombin, calcium chloride, buffer and stabilizers. The thrombin time assay is based on the ability of thrombin to catalyze the polymerization of fibrinogen into a fibrin clot. Abnormalities affecting this stage of coagulation include quantitative and qualitative alterations in fibrinogen, increased fibrinolytic activity causing variations in Fibrinogen Degradation Product (FDP).

  • Used for analyzing the functional aspects of thrombin to catalyze the polymerization of Fibrinogen to fibrin
  • Comes with convenient 10*1 ml pack
  • Excellent Stability upto one month when stored at -20°c
  • Long Shelf Life
